DENTAL CROWNS & BRIDGES
IN CLEARWATER
How Do Dental Crowns & Bridges Work?
Crowns and bridges are closely related. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped dental prostheses made of porcelain ceramic materials. They cover up damaged teeth, protecting them from further damage and restoring your smile.
Bridges are similar, but are used to replace missing teeth. They use two dental crowns, which attach to two healthy teeth. A bridge also has one or more crowns (pontics) that “bridge” the gap where your missing tooth used to be. Whether you’ve got a painful tooth or you’re missing multiple teeth, Dr. Hiba Alqasemi and Dr. Ziad Adham are here to help. Contact Beyond Dentistry Clearwater for an appointment today.

A CONSULT IN CLEARWATER?
How It Works: Our Dental Crown And Bridge Placement Process
Initial consultation
Before you get treatment, Dr. Alqasemi or Dr. Adham will examine your mouth, discuss your options, and make sure a crown or bridge is right for you. The right treatment may vary depending on your budget, schedule, and preferences.
Tooth preparation and fitting
Building your restoration
You’ll be sent home with temporary crowns or a temporary bridge to protect your teeth. It takes about two weeks for our dental lab to build your prosthetic, in most cases. Once it arrives at our Clearwater office, you’ll come back for one last appointment.
Final crown/bridge placement
At your last appointment, Dr. Adham or Dr. Alqasemi will remove your temporary prosthesis. Then, they will check the fit of your crown or bridge, and make any necessary minor adjustments. Finally, they’ll bond it in place with powerful dental cement, completing the procedure. You’ll be sent home to enjoy your new smile.
More About Dental Crowns And Bridges
HOW TO PROPERLY CARE FOR A NEW CROWN OR BRIDGE
You can treat crowns just like natural teeth. Brush twice a day, floss once per day, and see Dr. Alqasemi or Dr. Adham for a checkup every six months. That’s it!
Bridges need a little more special care. Along with routine brushing, you’ll need to use special floss tape and/or interdental brushes to clean below your bridge. This removes plaque, food particles, and bacteria that could irritate your gums. After they’ve been placed, Dr. Alqasemi or Dr. Adham will give you all the information you need to care for your bridges properly.

If you have a decayed, infected, or damaged tooth, a crown may be the best choice for restoring your smile, along with possible root canal therapy. Crowns can restore your smile and your bite, and eliminate your pain, too. Bridges are a good option if you’re missing a tooth or multiple teeth in a row. They last longer and are more convenient than partial dentures. They’re also usually cheaper than dental implants, and are typically a covered service by most dental insurance plans. To learn more and find out if you’re a good candidate, contact Beyond Dentistry Clearwater for a consultation.
With proper care, crowns typically last between 10-20 years, and can last even longer in some cases. Dental bridges usually have a shorter lifespan, lasting somewhere between 5-15 years in most patients. Proper oral hygiene and regular checkups at our Clearwater office are essential for maximizing the lifespan of your dental work.
